Selecting Items

Select individual items

 

  • Click with the left mouse button on the item required.
  • To select multiple items hold the Shift or Ctrl key down while clicking the items required.

 

Select items by bounding box

  • Select the Pointer tool on the tool palette.
  • Point at the position of one of the four corners of the box you require.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and drag the cursor to the diagonally opposite corner of the box so that all the items you require to select are surrounded by the box.
  • Release the mouse button.

Only items that are wholly within the bounding box will be selected. If required, use the Ctrl key and left-click to add further items to the selection group.

 

Select items by touching box

  • Select the Pointer tool on the tool palette.
  • Hold down the Shift key, and point at the position of one of the four corners of the box you require.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and drag the cursor to the diagonally opposite corner of the box so that all the items you require to select are at least touched by the box.
  • Let go of the mouse button and the Shift key.

 

Selecting all items

  • Double-click on any part of the diagram canvas does not contain an item, or
  • Choose Select All from the Edit menu, or
  • Enter Ctrl+A.

 

De-select all items

To de-select all items, click anywhere on the diagram canvas does not contain an item. Alternatively, use Ctrl+D.

 

De-select a single item

If you have a number of items selected and you want to de-select a single item, press Shift or Ctrl and click the item.
