Gartner, Inc., a leading research and advisory firm listed Holocentric as a Representative Vendor in Technology supporting a DTO in its July 2018 “Market Guide for Technologies Supporting a DTO”.

A digital twin of the organization is defined as a “dynamic software model of any organization that relies on operational and/or other data to understand how an organization operationalizes its business model, connects with its current state, responds to changes, deploys resources and delivers expected customer value”.

Business initiatives for digital optimization or digital business transformation are complex, and managing such initiatives is difficult and can be risky. A digital twin of the organization can help with this as they can:

  • Create data-based model of assets or processes allowing companies to capture data from older technology still in use  and discover trends and patterns
  • Provide detailed information about large collections of key assets in an industrial landscape, highlighting gaps and allowing for informed and differentiated decisions about where to invest or upgrade
  • Expand a culture of data-based decision-making, improving performance by being able to do more predictive and condition-based maintenance on your assets

In Gartner’s report, Holocentric was the only company supporting a DTO in the Asia-Pacific region with a Business Operating System background. A Business Operating System (BOS) is one of the possible implementations of the design pattern represented by a DTO (see the Gartner research paper “How a Business Operating System Can Guide CIOs to Digital Business Success”).

As a leader in business management systems for many years, Holocentric has a broad range of experience in the application of a DTO tool. The architecture of Holocentric’s Business Management System, its ability to allow modifications to the underlying metamodel and to support new domains of enquiry was noted in the Gartner research guide.

There are eight major use cases identified by Gartner for Digital Twins and Holocentric is aligned with many of these. Holocentric customers have improved customer experience, program and portfolio management, digital business optimization and transformation and operational excellence. Other use cases such as operationalization of new capabilities, IoT and enterprise performance and cost optimization are certainly part of the vision of the future.

As Gartner explains - a digital twin of the organization helps EA and technology innovation leaders to prioritize, guide, plan, monitor, analyze and scale complex initiatives. Holocentric is committed to delivering and providing a holistic view of strategy, processes, operating systems and customer touchpoints.
